Small Bar StoolsBar stools are the perfect solution for small apartments where space is at a premium. Perhaps you never bothered buying a full dining set, due to your living room furniture encroaching on your dining room space. Many new flats don’t even include a dining room, sacrificing the space for a bedroom. Eating meals in a smaller apartment can be tricky. Your best solution is buying bar stools for smaller spaces.

There are several different solutions to having an actual dining space in your smaller apartment, so you don’t get stuck eating every meal at the couch.  To see some hydraulic bar stools which are ideal for this please visit Amazon (affiliate link).

Smaller Breakfast and Kitchen Bar Stools

If you have an extended kitchen counter, also known as a breakfast nook, or breakfast bar, you can easily store a few stools under the overhang during the day. During meals, simply pull out your bar stools for seating. If you have any other furniture stored under your bar overhang, such as a stereo cabinet or bookshelves, you’ll likely have to relocate it, unless there is enough room to tuck a bar stool or two on each side. Keep the counters clear so you don’t have to clear them each time before sitting down.

If you don’t have a breakfast bar off your kitchen, then you can easily install one onto a space section of wall. Many furniture stores offer shelves that can be directly installed onto your wall with a few pieces of hardware. Be sure to measure your optimal bar table height, so that your legs fit comfortably underneath, while you’re seated on the stool. When your bar stools are not in use, you can store them directly against the wall, so you have plenty of space to walk around your room.

There are also wall-mounted shelves that actually fold down when not in use. These tend to be larger than a decorative wall-mounted shelf. You’ll have more space for your meals, and there will even be extra spots for your friends to join you.

Using Bar Stools Tables

If you’re really dying for a real table where you can keep a vase of flowers or have space to place your laptop, then there are actually smaller tables on the market now. You can buy a bar-style table, that has a higher height, so you can still be seated on your bar stools, but your legs will still fit comfortably under the table. This is also a great option when you also have a breakfast bar, as you can use the same set of bar tables for both, without needing two sets of chairs. You’ll automatically be saving on space. Some of these bar tables will fit nicely against the wall as well, so they’re not blocking your valuable walking space around the room.  Check my review of the Cuban bar stool a this is perfect in this scenario.

If you’re really strapped for space, you can even use a window sill as your bar stool table. Most window sills have space for a small plate and glass. You can sit by the window and enjoy the outside world, while you enjoy your meals.

When you live in a small space, bar stools are a great solution to being able to still have an actual dining space in your home, rather than spilling food all over your living room furniture. There’s many different styles to choose from, and bar stools are versatile enough to be used in different locations around the home.
